Hudson Eats Ready for its Close-Up

Tonight is the preview party for New York City’s Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place. BCV Principals Hans Baldauf and Chris von Eckartsberg and Associate David Whitfield joined the design team from AvroKO and many others to celebrate the opening with cocktails and tastings from a curated mix of award-winning eateries– their photos of the space are below.

Located in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district, the 30,000 sq. ft. Hudson Eats celebrates the unique offerings of the Empire State’s foodshed against the stunning backdrop of the Hudson River. BCV and AvroKO collaborated on the design of the modern food hall, which features the creations of 14 of the city’s leading artisanal food purveyors. Hudson Eats is an interpretation of the classic New York Market Hall, including the Washington Market, which once stood near the site and served lower Manhattan.

The interior is defined by handmade tile walls, steel portals, marble and wood tables, and custom designed seating and lighting, creating an elegant and functional dining atmosphere. The guiding principals of craft, refinement and quality set the tone for the purveyors, who have designed their own stalls to fit into their spaces within the market – a process choreographed by BCV and AvroKO.
