BCV Principal Chris von Eckartsberg hosted a tour of the newly reopened Schroeder’s beer hall on Wednesday, September 3 as part of the annual Architecture and the City festival, a month-long event organized every September by the San Francisco Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
Chris introduced the design team and spoke about project intentions and the process of striking a delicate balance between maintaining a sense of history and implementing the right design choices in updating the space. Schroeder’s Owners Andy Chun and Jan Wiginton discussed the storied history of the restaurant and their excitement at reinvigorating the restaurant for a new generation to enjoy, while Executive Chef Manfred Wrembel spoke about his focus on incorporating local California ingredients into its German-inspired fare.
