The 5th annual Good Food Awards took place on Thursday, January 8th at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater. BCV again worked with Good Food Awards organizers to coordinate and plan the layout for the awards and marketplace, along with this year’s new event, the Good Food Mercantile. The ceremony and gala honored “outstanding American food producers and the farmers who provide their ingredients,” recognizing 146 winners from 33 states in the categories of beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, confections, pickles, preserve, spirits, oil and honey– a new category for 2015. The ceremonies were hosted by Alice Waters, Ruth Reichl, Nell Newman, and Mark Bittman.
The following day, producers had the opportunity to meet and share their product with Bay Area buyers and retailers at the first Good Food Mercantile, an ‘un-trade show’ open to Good Food Award winners and finalists from the last five years, as well as members of the Good Food Guild. The mercantile was held at Dogpatch Studios, which provided three floors for vendors to showcase their products. Along with creating the layout for this venue, BCV also worked with jak.w and Council furniture of San Francisco to create lounge spaces for the Mercantile attendees.
The Mercantile was a successful addition to the Good Food Awards program, featuring nearly 100 vendors and over 200 attendees.
The public Good Food Awards marketplace, held on Saturday, January 10 at the San Francisco Ferry Building, once again attracted large crowds who gathered to sample and take home award-winning cheeses, chocolates, coffees, pickles preserves, and more.
